Privacy Policy

This policy describes what OPNsenseLab (https://opnsenselab.com) does with information about the people who visit it. For anything not covered here, email hello@opnsenselab.com.

The short version

No cookies. No accounts. No ad tracking. Cookieless analytics only. There is nothing to log into, no advertising network on any page, and no cross-site profiling. The only personal data this site ever holds is an email address, and only if you choose to give it to the newsletter.

Analytics

Traffic is measured with Plausible, which sets no cookies, does not use a persistent identifier, and does not follow visitors between sites. It records aggregate figures only: page viewed, referring source, browser and operating system family, country (not city), and screen-size band. Plausible does not store IP addresses.

Hosting and network logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare's edge necessarily processes your IP address and request headers in order to deliver the page and to block abuse. That is connection data handled by the host, it is not used to build a profile of you, and this site does not query it to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking cookies and no advertising cookies. A theme preference (light or dark) is stored in your browser's own local storage if you use the theme toggle. It never leaves your browser and it identifies nothing.

Newsletter

If, and only if, you subscribe, this site collects the email address you enter, the page you subscribed from, and the timestamp. That record is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure and passed to MailerLite for delivery. It is used to send the newsletter you asked for and nothing else. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the record.

What is never done with your data

Processors

Fonts and stylesheets are served from this site's own domain. The only third-party script loaded on any page is the Plausible analytics script described above. There is no tag manager, no advertising script, and no social widget.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access the data held about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, or port it elsewhere. In practice the only record that can exist is a newsletter subscription. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@opnsenselab.com; requests are answered within 30 days.

EU and UK GDPR

For visitors in the EEA and UK: a newsletter email address is processed on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. Correspondence you send is processed on the basis of legitimate interest in replying to it. You may also complain to your supervisory authority; the list is at edpb.europa.eu.

California CCPA and CPRA

Personal information is not sold or shared as those terms are defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know, delete, and correct. Contact hello@opnsenselab.com.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in some jurisdictions) and does not knowingly collect their data. If you believe it has, write and it will be deleted.

Retention

Newsletter records are kept while you are subscribed and for 30 days after you unsubscribe, so that an unsubscribe cannot be silently undone. Aggregate analytics are kept for 24 months. Email correspondence is kept for 12 months.

Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Subscriber records are stored encrypted at rest by the hosting provider. If a breach occurs that affects you, you will be notified in line with the law that applies to you.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the change will be flagged at the top of this page for at least 30 days.
